Bend: Sustenance and Refreshment
We fed the horses and provided them water while the staff was on retreat. Eric guided us to unload the hay bales and toss the flakes off for the horses to start munching. We also filled the stock tanks with water that provided such needed refreshment.
It occurred to me that unlike the other animals I have had the delight to be with, these horses are domesticated. They are totally dependent upon us for their care and life. They are dependant to be fed and to be given water to survive.
I believe they need love and attention as well to survive. It makes the abuse of them even more inconceivable that they would be “left to survive” on their own, when they truly can’t. It yells of how our responsibility to them is even greater. Something as easy as food, water, and care provide such delight and life.
